fall/winter 10 collection
Approaching this fashion accessory collection from a product design angle, I adopted techniques used in industrial prototype making (e.g. rapid prototyping (3d computer printing)) and combined them with leather craftsmanship and great attention to detail. Substituting traditional pattern making, I found different ways of constructing bags, reinventing them from scratch.
In my MA final collection I worked on the classics - the basket, the brief case, the doctor's bag, the evening bow bag, the hat case, the croco bag and suitcase. In the 'Icons Undercover' collection hardware attachments, buckles and locks were moulded and abstracted to purely decoration. Suede, patent and very soft glove leathers were adorned with silver plated handles. A small copper purse with magnetic closure completes this contemporary ensemble.
'Icons Undercover' was awarded the prestigious ITS#6 ‘Accessories Collection of The Year’ price. For more information on ITS, please click here

solid poetry & liquid affection
graduation project 2004 - cum laude
Whenever the weather change the landscape transforms, the light becomes different and the whole atmosphere changes. All materials seem to alter. In my project I explore the possibilities for hidden design appearing as the environment changes. I applied techniques to enduring and solid materials as glass (liquid affection) and concrete (solid poetry), so that natural processes like differences in temperature causing condense reveal patterns on windows. Rain uncovers decoration on a city square. The possible applications of solid poetry and liquid affection are various: either at home in the bathroom, in the garden, in saunas and dance clubs, where the humidity is high or public spaces like bus stops or pavements. All forms of solid poetry have in common that they change the whole setting; they are surprising and have a life of their own.

porte-mémoire
graduation project 2004 - cum laude
The tradition of family coat of arms, diaries and family silver intrigues me. porte-mémoire is a set with components to create family jewellery. The medallions can be filled with precious pieces which do not necessarily have a monetary value - a personal treasure for milk teeth, the first love letter and hair curls or the grandparent’s wedding rings. With every element of the jewellery a family member leaves a relic of his live for his descendants. In time the collection grows, leaving signs of sentiment.

During my internship at Li Edelkoort’s office I participated in the styling of several photo reportages for ‘bloom’ and ‘view on colour’. Both magazines are focused on trend and colour forecasting.
International project with 10 students from 5 different countries in Munich, Germany, including a trip to Shanghai, China. During the Munich Design Parcours the participants created an exhibition with the theme ‘architecture and communication – utopia’. My electronic installation HUMAN TOUCH deals with communication at distance without using words. It allows you to live together with your family although you do not live in the same city. The HUMAN TOUCH enables remote togetherness.
